Sleep apnea is a sleeping disorder that is characterized by frequent pauses and gasps in a person’s breathing while they sleep. It is caused by the collapse of the patient’s airway which blocks his breathing.  This causes the brain to wake you up in order for you to start breathing again.  However, these sleep interruptions can be very subtle and easily overlooked as they occur in such short intervals which makes them virtually unnoticeable by the patient. Its effects certainly appear during the day when the person wakes up and is extremely tired as he does his usual daily activities.
